Exhibition catalogue for Simon Starling: The Nanjing Particles. For this exhibition, Simon mined the history of North Adams and found a stereograph of Chinese workers in front of a mill on the grounds currently occupied by the museum. Simon pulled two particles from the photograph, three-dimensionally scanned them, and blew them up into the two amorphous sculptures in the gallery. At the entrance of the exhibition is a large wall wallpapered with the stereograph with two holes signifying where the particles were extracted from. The die-cut cover references this wall.

Exhibition catalogue for Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle: Gravity is a Force to be Reckoned With, the 2009–10 exhibition in MASS MoCA's Building 5 gallery, the expansive football-field-sized space we hand over to one artist per year for a commission. Iñigo's installation is an upside-down half-scale recreation of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's House with Four Columns.

The catalogue was edited by Denise Markonish and features esssays by Denise and Lisa Dorrin, as well as a screenplay, written by Iñigo, that is featured on an iPhone within the installation. The book is a square—like the installation—and has fantastic installation photography by the trusty Art Evans.

Sol LeWitt: 100 Views is the official catalogue for Sol LeWitt: A Wall Drawing Retrospective, which opened at MM in November 2008. For the book, the editors (Denise Markonish and Susan Cross, MM's curators) asked 100 different people connected to LeWitt (friends, artists, musicians, assistants, architects, and curators) to submit short pieces. Some sent us short essays, others poetry, music scores, acrostics, and personal anecdotes. The book also features photographs of almost all of the 105 wall drawings featured in the retrospective. All in all, the catalogue is a comprehensive tribute to LeWitt and a handy companion to the mammoth, 25-year installation. 100 Views was co-published with Yale Press. The drawing on the cover is a detail one of LeWitt's late Scribble drawings. Buy the book on Amazon.
