For this exhibition, Simon mined the history of North Adams and found a stereograph of Chinese workers in front of a mill on the grounds currently occupied by the museum. Simon pulled two particles from the photograph, three-dimensionally scanned them, and blew them up into the two amorphous sculptures in the gallery. At the entrance of the exhibition is a large wall wallpapered with the stereograph with two holes signifying where the particles were extracted from. The catalogue was edited by Denise Markonish and features esssays by Denise and Lisa Dorrin, as well as a screenplay, written by Iñigo, that is featured on an iPhone within the installation. For the book, the editors (Denise Markonish and Susan Cross, MM's curators) asked 100 different people connected to LeWitt (friends, artists, musicians, assistants, architects, and curators) to submit short pieces. Some sent us short essays, others poetry, music scores, acrostics, and personal anecdotes. The book also features photographs of almost all of the 105 wall drawings featured in the retrospective. All in all, the catalogue is a comprehensive tribute to LeWitt and a handy companion to the mammoth, 25-year installation. 100 Views was co-published with Yale Press.
